I absolutely LOVED this book! I read this to my 4th and 6th grade boys as our Bible study each morning. This book is phenomenal at explaining the Bible with not just words but word pictures, charts, and lists. I would sit in between my 2 boys when reading this so that we could all be looking at the book while reading it. Along with explaining, outlying, mapping out the Bible, this book also had a fair amount of application that was very applicable to my boys and made for wonderful devotionals.

Some of the examples of why I loved this book:

When reading about about the book of 1 Samuel, I loved the chart on the different types of sacrifices. Next to each type (5), the scripture reference is listed and an explanation of that offering. For example, under The Grain Offering, it says, to say thank you to the Lord for His goodness.

In addition to the devotional/heart application, there were also hands on learning applications. For example, when learning about David the song writer, the application was about the poet/musician in you. This was followed by a list of how to do that.

I could write a whole book with examples and reasons why and how you and your child will grow in the knowledge of the Bible while reading this! I plan on reading this again to my younger son when he is old enough and possibly again to my older boys. I'm so glad I bought this book and it will make a wonderful addition to your home library as well!

For KIDS?! Yes, it absolutely explains the Bible so simply, and yet with do much depth. But also... For adults. As a long-time Bible-lover, this book has unlocked so many more wonderful concepts that I hadn't previously considered. It's a real gem. For KIDS?! This book couldn't make up it's mind what it was, an easy read Bible or an easy read Bible Handbook. This was not good for a read aloud, it might be good for a Bible Handbook for a child that would want it for his own...and yet, any kid of an age for that and actually desirous of a handbook would likely find this inadequate or too young-ish. I was excited for it to be something my gradeschoolers would use for self study/reading, but I really don't see it as that, either. Apparently, my wife bought this book longtime back as it was for kids. I think she equated beginners to kids. Anyways, I had some fun, lot of stuff matches to what my colleagues told me, there were great points that I didn't know, but

its weirdly paced, cumbersome and disjointed. IDK, if it is an easy read for kids.
Say, parents read for the kids: Too long to read out loud, too short to go chapter by chapter, too disjointed for handful of chapters.

Maybe, I'm not the right reader for the book. But, its difficult to understand the suitable readers for this one. Basically, following this book is quite tough. 2/5
